Important: This guide is based on AS/NZS 5139:2019 Australian standards. Your professional CEC-accredited installer will perform final compliance checks and verify all requirements.
Step by Step
Follow these steps to identify suitable locations for your battery installation
Batteries cannot be installed IN or near (within 600mm of windows/vents to) these rooms:
Note: A garage used as a workspace or lounge may also be considered habitable.
If installing against a wall with a habitable room on the other side, one of these materials must be used as a barrier
Brick or masonry blocks
Concrete
Compressed cement sheeting (min 6mm)
Ceramic or terracotta tiles
NOT Suitable as Barriers:
Timber panels, plasterboard, particle board, or any material with perforations/openings greater than 5mm.
